Fitness & Dance Classes

Line Dancing - Fun, Fun, Fun! 

In this fun dance class, you will learn line dances to a variety of music like swing, rock and roll, waltz, zydeco and western. This class is open to all levels of dancers, so there is something for everyone who loves to move to music. Exercise never felt like such fun! Benefits include more flexibility, better balance, stronger muscles and improved body awareness. New dances explored each month. (ongoing every Tues, buy a 5-week punchcard for $30/members, $40/non-members or drop-in for $10/class)

Tennis Shoes Tap

We’ll incorporate tap dancing steps with lots of lively arm and shoulder movements! Learn some real tap dancing choreography without the stress of "sounding perfect.” Just come in your tennis shoes, and be sure to have water handy! This class increases strength, coordination and flexibility.  It gets you dancing to the beat, brings out laughter and smiles and energizes you for the rest of your day. Registration required. Zumba Gold®

Increase your stamina and flexibility with Zumba Gold®, the popular dance fitness program geared to those over 50 and sweeping the country. Inspired by Latin music and dance steps, the low-impact, easy-to-follow movements make exercising fun. This energizing class feels more like a party than exercise.  Call (206) 297-0875 to sign up.

T'ai Chi: Level I

Basics of Tai Chi & Qigong for All Levels: Begin your study learning movements for strength, flexibility, balance and confidence. Learn the foundation of T’ai Chi with essential core movements. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 am.

T’ai Chi: Level II

Balancing the Heart Qigong & Yang Tai Chi Form: Improve your practice and learn more advanced skills and techniques while you realize greater strength and deeper relaxation.  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 - 10 am. Level I attendance or prior T’ai Chi experience required.

 Low-Impact Exercise

Instructor Floy Bishop leads this fun and easy to follow drop-in class with health benefits for all. Socialize while you get in shape– all skill levels welcome. All of the exercises used in this class can be done either sitting or standing. Cost is $1 Suggested Donation. Meets every Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 10-11 am

 

Greenwood Strollers

Stay healthy and active by participating in this walking club led by a volunteer from Sound Steps.  Join with other members of the community to get some exercise and enjoy the neighborhood. All are welcome: moms, dads, grandparents, kids, dogs, and whoever else wants to join in! Free, Tuesdays at 10:00 am.

Yoga

Instructor D’vorah Kost helps students build strength and flexibility through yoga. All levels are welcome to join. Cost is $5/member, $6/non-member, or $20 per month, Thursdays, 2:30-3:30 pm.

Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement®

Discover this fun and easy movement method that improves your physical movements, your sense of balance and overall well-being. Customized classes engage your brain and body to help you move easier. Beginners welcome! The teacher is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM with 10 years experience. Wear warm, comfortable clothing.

  • Thurs: 1-2pm, Mar 4-25, Apr 1-29, & May 6-27

  • $20/4 week session, $7/drop-in fee
