Book and Discussion Groups

Book Discussion Group

3rd Thursdays, 1-2 pm, Apr. 19, May 17 & Jun. 21. Free.
We have stimulating discussions on books provided through the Seattle Library’s “Center for the Book” program. New participants are always welcome.

Current Events Discussion

2nd & 4th Tuesday each month, 1-2 pm. Free.
An informal group that discusses current events, politics, nutrition, healthcare and more.

PSARA Senior Voices Discussion Group

2nd Thursday each month, 1- 2 pm. Free.
Come together with other older adults to discuss pertinent issues affecting older Americans in our own community, as well as around the nation. Explore issues such as affordable housing, social security, health care reform and much more. Bette Reed from the Puget Sound Alliance for Retired Americans facilitates this group.

Baseball Stories

1st & 3rd Fri, Mar 2 & 16, 10-11:30am. Free.
If you're a baseball fan, join this new group! Group facilitator, Rex Allison, has been a baseball fan since 1948. In his career life he was editor and sports writer for several newspapers. Beginning with the Seattle Rainiers, baseball history holds many great stories to be told and remembered again and again. Come and join the backfield chatter. To sign up call 206.297.0875.

Bridge

Mondays, 11 am-2:30 pm. $1.
Weekly bridge games for experienced players. Regulars and substitutes welcome.

Open Studio Craft Group

Thursdays, 1 pm. Free.
Meet a bunch of crafty folks who stamp, make cards and get creative. This is an informal group so stop by anytime.

Pinochle

Mondays, 8:30 am-3 pm. $1.
Experienced pinochle players wanted. Come join the group and enjoy one of America’s favorite strategy card games.

Scrabble

Thursdays, 11 am-3 pm. Free.
If you love Scrabble, join us! This is a fun, informal group.

NEW! Chinese Mah Jongg

Wednesdays, 10 am-2 pm. Free.
Join this new group that is forming weekly. If you love Mah Jongg, we’d love to have you join us!

Senior Stitchers

Tuesdays, Feb. 28, Mar. 27, Apr. 24, May 29 & Jun. 26, 1-3 pm. Free.
Join our informal stitching group to work on your knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and other stitching projects. Bring your own supplies and projects. Socialize with other stitchers.

Music

Do you remember singing songs from the 20’s to the 50’s? Do you like to make people happy? Then join the G-Notes! All are welcome to audition. We will put the director in touch with you when you call.

Harmonicats

Men’s Club

2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month, 9:30-11 am. $3/members, $5/public suggested donation. Join our friendly group of guys who support, challenge, learn from and laugh with each other every time we get together. We mix on-site presentations and off-site activities. Join us to be a part of something fun and beneficial! Facilitated by Joseph Raineri, MSW.

Red Riding Hats

2nd Monday of each month, 1:00 pm. Cost is price of lunch. Bring a red hat and get ready to celebrate with other women looking for fun after 50! We meet for lunch and socialization once a month. Call 206.297.0875 to find out where we’re headed next.

Walking and Fitness

Greenwood Strollers

Tuesdays, 10-11 am. Free. Come out for a stroll around the neighborhood with a likable community of walkers. All speed levels welcome. This group was started by seniors, but welcomes everyone. Hosted by Sound Steps.
