AARP Driving Safety Class
Learn
safer driving techniques and possibly even get a break on your insurance rate
with this refresher course in defensive driving put on by AARP. Different issues
covered each class, call GSC to sign-up in advance. Cost is
$12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Please be sure to bring your AARP
card or membership number. Classes are held on a Thursday and Friday from 9:30 am to 3:00
pm. Classes are usually offered the 4th Thursday and Friday of each month. Call

Already have an account but feel frustrated with its features? Learn about the
Wall, managing your Friends list, and adjusting privacy settings on your
Facebook account so you can feel comfortable using this tool to connect with
friends and family.

In this workshop, you will learn how to navigate your
phone’s menu, personalize the appearance of your phone display, enter contacts,
and yes, send text messages! Bring your cell phone, charger and phone/address
book to enter contacts.
Skype Basics:

Skype is a free computer program that allows you to make
free voice and video calls to other Skype users. Learn the basics of
installation and use, see a live demonstration, and get your questions answered.
Recommended, but not required: your own laptop, a headset with microphone and
web cam.
Cutting & Pasting:

Learn to move text and images from one document to
another using both the keyboard and the mouse. Basic computer and mouse skills

Change Lab
Are changes hard for you? Want to drop a bad habit or
incorporate better ones? Has life brought a change not of your choosing, like
divorce, health problems or relocation? Change lab will help you break out of
old belief systems, re-write life scripts and plan for a positive tomorrow.

Guided Autobiography
Workshop
Using the methodology of gerontologist James Birren,
this workshop uses a thematic approach and priming questions to help
participants recapture and organize their memories. Participants write on
the weekly theme and share within a supportive small group.
Writing and sharing life stories helps put memories
in context—allowing people to discover new meaning in life and gain the insight
to re-evaluate the past and influence the future. No experience

Write About Your Life
Join Ariele Huff and this fun writing group for the
purpose of reminiscing, personal growth or creating articles or books. Get
stories down on paper for family and friends to
enjoy. The Tuesday section is more for those who want to learn the ropes, while
enjoying ongoing writing support. Since this is a newer class, the format will
be more lecture based than the Thursday class. Cost is $58 for 10 sessions.

The Beginner's Guide to Mixed Media
If you draw with ink and watercolor to make a drawing,
you are using two media and so it is called “mixed media.” This is a class for
beginners, for people who want to learn the basics of drawing, watercolor and/or
acrylic. We will cover the materials to use, untangle the mysteries of
watercolor and learn the difference between charcoal and conte, acrylic and
watercolor. Bring
materials to draw with to your first class and instructor Susan Schneider
will talk with you to find out what you would like to work with. This is an
ongoing class and the fundamentals of drawing and painting will be clearly
explained. Still life set ups of interesting objects, fruits, vegetables will
guide you through concepts like light-to-dark in charcoal drawing and working
wet-in-wet in watercolor. Class is held every Wednesday morning from 10 am-12 pm. Each class costs $10/members or $12 for non-members.
Card Making Workshop
Materials will be on hand to make your own handmade
cards at this fun and crafty workshop. Master card makers will assist if you
need help with stamping, embossing, cutouts and a variety of other card making
techniques. Some cards will be sent to soldiers in “comfort boxes” care of the
Coalition for Troop Support. Thursday, Apr 29, 1-3 pm, Material fee:

Jewelry Workshop
Learn to create your own beautiful jewelry! Using wire
jump rings and a few basic tools, you will complete your own cross-linked chain
bracelet in silver and gold, as well as witness demonstrations of a number of
other designs and techniques for beautiful, yet simple, jewelry making. No
experience necessary. Class is held on the 4th Friday of each month. Cost is a $29
materials fee plus $4/members and $6/non-members.
Open Studio
Engage in sewing, stamping, cards, knitting, crochet, &
embroidery. This is an informal group; instruction can be arranged by calling
the GSC and leaving a message for Esther Dean. Free, Thursdays, 1-3pm.
Watercolor
Join instructor Glen Oberg and a great
group of students learning to paint. Some experience is necessary; bring
your own supplies. Fee is due for each class. Cost is $15 for members/$18
non-members, Wednesdays, 1-4pm

Piano Lessons
Make music and have fun in this beginning piano class.
Cecilia Manalili has been teaching music to adults for decades. Materials will
be provided, but if you have a small portable keyboard, bring it along.

Learn to repair, sharpen or improve
photos, plus the basics of cropping and adjusting color. Then
focus on separating and combining images to create personal
